In terms of production value and sound design, there’s not many out there than can top the material that Nuaura are putting out at the moment. Hailing from Manchester, Michael Thomas Smith & Kyle Alexander James have been receiving some serious attention from the entirety of the UK underground recently, and rightly so. Their collective influences range from Skream, Benga and Excision to Calyx & Teebee, Ivy Lab and Arkaik, and this really shows in their polished production. They’ve found their home in the Breaks, Garage and UK Bass sound, and have drawn in a wide array of listeners with their masterful implementation of atmospheric reeses, pulsing bass and shattering percussion. In a nutshell, it’s pure sonic goodness. Their debut ‘Champion’ EP on Articulate was a huge hit, picked up by the likes of My Nu Leng, Holy Goof, Barely Royal, Negativ, Kade, Left/Right, Affiliate and more. They’ve got some truly huge things lined up in the coming months, and they’re showing no sign of slowing down.
